Former Cardinal infielder famously broke Kirby Puckett’s rookie batting average record in his first ten big league games
O’FALLON, Mo. – The O’Fallon Hoots, members of the Prospect League, announced that former Cardinals infielder Bo Hart will join Mike Matheny and Andruw Jones at CarShield Field for the 3rd Annual MLB Alumni Home Run Derby presented by Complete Auto Body & Repair. The trio will be joined by one final alumnus who will be announced soon.
“Bo Hart provided Cardinals fans with one of the most exciting starts to a Major League career,” Hoots General Manager David Schmoll said. “Bo is not only a great story in Cardinals history, but he is a great ambassador for the Cardinals today. I cannot wait to have him back at CarShield field with our other MLB alums!”
Bo Hart made his Major League debut with the Cardinals in 2003 at the age of 26 after spending four seasons in the Cardinals minor league system. After ascending to the Big Leagues, the rookie second baseman broke an MLB record previously held by Kirby Puckett by hitting .460 in his first ten games, including 28 hits in his first 15 games. He retired from professional baseball in 2008 with a career .272 batting average.
