Cade Hohl Shines in Loss to Springfield
The O’Fallon Hoots (21-20) were led at the plate by Cade Hohl (Purdue) in their 14-7 loss to the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes (18-23).
Hohl registered four hits to lead the Hoots, going 4-4 with a walk. His first hit cleared the clock beyond the centerfield wall for a solo home run. He would single three more times, driving home two with his sixth-inning single.
The big offensive inning for the Hoots was their four-run sixth inning. Jacob Hager (Arkansas State) registered an RBI-single to start the scoring. Ambrose Russo (Lindenwood) singled home one as a pinch-hitter that inning. The scoring was completed by the aforementioned Hohl single.
Ole Arntson (SIUE) doubled home two in the third for his lone hit. That hit was more impressive than most, as he did so while being mic’d up on the broadcast. The pitching staff was able to register 10 strikeouts on the mound.
The Hoots do not return home until July 25 when REX Baseball comes into town. First pitch is 6:35 p.m. with gates opening at 5:35. Tickets are $9 online and can be found at ofallonhoots.com.
