Hoots Grab their Fifth Win in a Row, Defeat Normal 6-3

The Hoots (10-8) entered play on Friday as winners of four in a row. After Friday, the Hoots tacked on six more runs and another victory over Normal (9-6).

First Baseman Ole Arntson hit his first home run of the season. After hitting four bombs this past year for SIU-Edwardsville, Arntson blasted a ball into the left-center bleachers at CarShield Field in the 2nd inning off of Luke Carlson. Arntson finished the game 3-3, with two RBIs, a double, and two runs scored.

Center Fielder Patrick Clohisy also continues to swing the bat well. He hit a home run to straightaway center in his first at-bat.

On the mound, Collin Baumgartner started the game for O’Fallon, throwing two innings, and striking out four. Baumgartner was effective in his second start of the year, throwing 51 pitches.

In relief, Carson Subbert threw four innings. Subbert was effective, only allowing two hits and one earned run. He worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the 4th frame. Logan Mantz pitched two shutout innings in the ball game. Jack Jones entered in the 9th to complete the save, striking out the side.

The Hoots and Cornbelters will be back at it on Saturday night for a rematch at CarShield Field. Tickets are available online and at the CarShield Field box office.
