Hoots Offense Stays Hot with 16-8 Victory Over Jackson

O’Fallon Scores Double Digits for Third Straight Game to Defeat the First Place Rockabillys

The O’Fallon Hoots defeat the Jackson Rockabillys by a final score of 16-8.

The scoring occurred early and often for both teams in the Sunday evening contest. O’Fallon scored two in the first due in large part to Jackson starting pitcher Quincy Thornton walked three batters and hit another.

The Rockabillys proceeded to take a 3-2 lead after scoring three runs over the second and third innings highlighted by a Kaleb Hall RBI double.

O’Fallon responded in the bottom of the third when Andy Niebrugge hit a three-run home run to right center to put the Hoots back on top, 5-3.

Jackson then fought back with back-to-back home runs from Dalton Rudd and Merik Carter to jump ahead, 6-5.

O’Fallon then took the lead for good in the fifth inning. Rockabillys reliever Austin Crawford would walk three straight to load the bases for Henry Zenor. Zenor would then hit a bases clearing double to tie the game at eight. The Hoots took the lead on a Baden Hackworth RBI groundout.

They added six insurance runs in the bottom of sixth inning highlighted by Hackworth’s RBI single, Jack Meyer’s two run double, and Niebrugge’s RBI double.

The Hoots would add one more in the bottom of the seventh on Bryson Lofton’s RBI single to score Kade Wood.

With the 16-8 victory, O’Fallon moves to 3-1 in the second half and 20-12 overall. The victory goes to Hoots reliever Noah Cryns who allowed two runs in an inning of work. The loss gives Jackson their first of the second half. They’re now 6-1 and 23-11 overall. The loss is charged to Crawford.
