Hoots Sign Missouri State Commit Heaghney for 2023 Prospect League Season

The incoming freshman is a two-time high school gold glove winner

O’FALLON, Mo. – The O’Fallon Hoots, proud members of the Prospect League, announced the signing of infielder Maloy Heaghney for the 2023 summer season. Heaghney comes to O’Fallon as an incoming freshman committed to Missouri State University (MSU). 

The 6-foot-0, 175-pound right-handed infielder attends Eureka High School. Heaghney is a two-time first-team all-conference selection, who hit .370 and fielded .965 as a sophomore to earn gold glove honors at third base. He received the same distinction at shortstop as a junior in 2022, hitting .305 with 28 RBI, 29 hits and 29 runs, helping the Wildcats to a conference title and school-record 26 wins.The young talent is ranked as the number five shortstop in Missouri’s 2023 class by Prep Baseball Report (PBR). The Eureka, Missouri-native will join the MSU Bears for the 2023-2024 school year.
