The sophomore played in the Kernels Collegiate League in Normal, Illinois during summer ‘22
O’FALLON, Mo. – The O’Fallon Hoots, proud members of the Prospect League, announced the signing of right-handed infielder Mike Maloney for the 2023 summer season. Maloney comes to O’Fallon as a sophomore from Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC).
The 5-foot-10 infielder attended Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, Illinois, where the 2021 grad earned the number five ranking among shortstops in the state of Illinois by Prep Baseball Report (PBR). Maloney committed to play for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) SWIC Blue Storm, where he recorded a .380 BA, .485 OBP, and .583 SLG, with 50 runs, 62 hits, 40 RBI, seven home runs, and eight stolen bases in 163 at-bats in his freshman season. Following his first year at SWIC, the Mokena, Illinois-native played for the Kernels Collegiate League (KCL) BlueCaps during the summer 2022 season, where he posted 17 hits, 12 RBI, 11 runs, and seven stolen bases in 65 plate appearances. This 2023 season, the sophomore is batting .325, with 56 runs, 53 hits, 37 RBI, and 14 stolen bases in 53 games played for the Blue Storm.
