James, Clohisy, Adams Shine in Loss to ‘Shoes

Patrick Clohisy hit a 2-run home run off a bus in right-center field in the first inning and Alex Adams and Will Doherty added two hits each for the O’Fallon Hoots (1-1) in an 8-3 loss to the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes (1-1) Thursday night at CarShield Field. 

Matt James turned in a great starting outing for the Hoots, going 4.1 innings, walking one and striking out eight. Carson Subbert (0-1) was credited with the loss after throwing 3.2 innings in relief, giving up 5 earned runs, striking out four and walking two. 

Offensively, the Hoots registered nine hits, including a Sam Maddox triple in the 6th. Noah Jouras drove Maddox in for his second RBI of the season. Tyler Bastunas and Noah Fisher also had hits in the game. 

A three-run home run by Cooper Combs in the 6th inning put the Lucky Horseshoes up for good.  Alex Wade also hit his first home run of the season and Jack Gorman drove in a run in the 8th with a double.

Richie Snider (1-0) picked up his first win of the season for the Lucky Horseshoes, throwing three shutout innings in relief, striking out three. 

The O’Fallon Hoots return to action Friday, June 3 at CarShield Field against the Alton River Dragons. First pitch is at 6:35 pm, the gates open at 5:35. General admission tickets are $9.
