Final MLB Alumni Home Run Derby Scheduled for 2024

Former Cardinals Brian Jordan and Rick Ankiel headline final event before hiatus

O’FALLON, Mo. – The O’Fallon Hoots, members of the Prospect League, announced that former MLB players Brian Jordan and Rick Ankiel will take part in the 4th Annual MLB Alumni Home Run Derby at CarShield Field on Saturday, July 27, 2024. The event will be the final Home Run Derby for the foreseeable future.

“To have two Cardinal greats like Brian and Rick join us this summer, there’s not a better way to close out this cycle of the Home Run Derby at CarShield Field,” General Manager David Schmoll said. “This has been such a fun event to put on and I hope the fans have enjoyed it as much as we have.”

Brain Jordan began his 14-year MLB career in 1992 with a six-year stint with the Cardinals. The Baltimore, Maryland-native later spent time with Atlanta, Los Angeles (NL) and Texas before retiring in 2006 as a member of the Braves. Jordan finished his MLB career with 184 Home Runs and  821 RBI with a .282 batting average.

Rick Ankiel was a second round selection of the Cardinals in 1997. He quickly rose through the minor league ranks, earning Minor League Player of the Year in 1999 by both Baseball America and USA Today and made his Major League debut that same season. Ankiel helped the Cardinals to the 2000 National League Central Division championship and to the NLCS. After injuries, Ankiel returned to the MLB as an outfielder in 2007 where he played until 2013. He finished with 76 home runs including a career high 25 in 2008. Ankiel looks to defend his title after winning the 2022 MLB Alumni Home Run Derby.

Two additional MLB Alumni participants will be announced soon.

For the fourth year, joining the four MLB Alumni for the event are members of The Rizzuto Show and 105.7 The Point taking on members of The Fast Lane and 101 ESPN. Can The Rizzuto Show even the series in the final event or will The Fast Lane reign supreme?

The 4th Annual MLB Alumni Home Run Derby will take place July 27 at CarShield Field in O’Fallon with the event beginning at 7:00 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase limited specialty autograph passes to go on the field to meet and get autographs from Ankiel, Jordan and two additional MLB Alumni to be announced at a later date. The autograph session will run for two hours beginning at 4:30 p.m.

General Admission tickets for the event are $15 with the option to add-on the autograph session for an additional $25. Only a limited number of autograph tickets will be made available. Additional information, including premium seating and all-you-can-eat options, is available at
