O’FALLON, Mo. — The O’Fallon Hoots announced today that Head Coach Matt Brown has stepped down from his role with the organization following three impactful seasons at the helm in 2021, 2024, and 2025.
Brown departs with a 103–69 record as the Hoots field manager. His leadership helped elevate the organization to new competitive heights, most notably during the 2025 season when he guided the Hoots to a franchise-record 41 wins and a Prospect League-record 17-game winning streak.
A St. Louis native, Brown was first named field manager of the Hoots in 2021 and immediately made an impact, leading the team to a first-half division title and the first playoff appearance in the history of the Hannibal/O’Fallon Hoots franchise. That team finished the season with a 33–27 record and helped establish a winning foundation for the organization moving forward.
“Matt played a major role in shaping the identity of Hoots baseball,” said General Manager Brendan Saak. “His leadership, preparation, and ability to connect with players set a standard within our organization. We are extremely grateful for everything he contributed and wish him nothing but success in his next chapter.”
Brown’s baseball roots run deep in the St. Louis area. Currently, he serves as the head baseball coach at Parkway South High School, guiding the program to a 48-19 record in 2024 and 2025. He also led Parkway South to its first-ever top-three finish at the 6A state semifinals last season.
Prior to coaching, Brown was a graduate of Vianney High School in Kirkwood, Missouri, where he was a three-time all-state selection and recipient of the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame’s 2013 Rising Star Award. As a senior, he hit .400 with six home runs and 40 RBIs, earning All-Metro Catholic League Player of the Year honors.
Following high school, Brown spent one season at the University of Arkansas before transferring to Jefferson College, where he starred for the Vikings. During his two-year NJCAA career, he hit .378 with 15 home runs and 65 RBIs, helping Jefferson College capture its 10th consecutive MCCAC title in 2016, while earning back-to-back NJCAA All-Region 16 honors.
Brown later continued his playing career at Missouri State University from 2017–18, earning all-conference honors and leading the Bears with 14 home runs during his senior season. He went on to play professionally for three seasons in the Frontier League, including time with the Windy City ThunderBolts and Gateway Grizzlies.
As the organization looks ahead, the O’Fallon Hoots will announce the club’s new field manager tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 5.
The Hoots thank Matt Brown for his dedication, leadership, and lasting impact on the organization and wish him continued success moving forward.
