O’FALLON, Mo. — The O’Fallon Hoots are excited to announce the hiring of Carter Mize as the organization’s new Field Manager for the 2026 season.
Mize is no stranger to O’Fallon, having previously served on the Hoots’ coaching staff during the 2023 season as the team’s hitting and infield coach. That summer, the Hoots led the Prospect League in home runs, a testament to Mize’s ability to connect with hitters and translate preparation into in-game success.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to return to O’Fallon in this role,” said Mize. “This organization meant a lot to me during an important transition in my career, and I’m excited to lead a group of players who are hungry to continue bringing entertaining, high-level baseball to the St. Charles County area.”
Prior to his appointment as Field Manager, Mize gained coaching experience at multiple levels, including serving as a high school coach at Pacific High School, an instructor with the Rawlings Tigers organization, and a volunteer assistant coach at Maryville University. In each role, he worked closely with hitters and infielders, emphasizing routine-building, approach, and confidence.
Mize also brings professional playing experience to the role, having competed in the MLB Draft League with the Williamsport Crosscutters and in the Pioneer Baseball League with organizations including the Rocky Mountain Vibes and Ogden Raptors. His playing career, combined with his recent transition into coaching, allows him to relate directly to the challenges and expectations faced by today’s collegiate summer athletes.
“Carter understands what it takes to develop players at this level,” said Hoots General Manager Brendan Saak. “He’s been in their shoes, he’s coached in our league, and he has already proven he can get results while building strong relationships. We’re excited to see him lead our program.”
Mize earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications from Missouri Baptist University, where he was a three-year starter at first base and a First Team All-Conference selection. He will oversee all on-field operations for the Hoots, including player development, daily preparation, and game strategy.
