O’Fallon, MO- In a rare meeting between the O’Fallon Hoots and the Terre Haute Rex, the Hoots were left with no answers to the Rex offense in a 12-7 loss.
Especially impressive for Terre Haute was Wally Diaz, who feasted on Hoots pitching to the tune of three home runs and six RBIs. The Rex hit five home runs total on the day.
The Hoots did not go quietly, however. Every time Terre Haute scored, the Hoots would try to respond. Tyler Macon had two doubles, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Nick Steurer and Will Doherty also added their own RBIS, and Carson Ramos hit a solo shot in the ninth. The Hoots especially took advantage of some sloppy defensive play and pitching from the Rex, scoring a run each on a wild pitch and an error.
It was not enough though, as the Hoots pitching couldn’t contain the potent Rex offense. The Hoots dropped to 9-6 in the second half. They will play a double header against the Normal Cornbelters tomorrow night.
