O’Fallon, MO – The Hoots took flight at CarShield Field on Saturday night, taking down the Thrillville Thrillibillies of Marion, Illinois in an 11-3 win.
The Hoots were paced by solid starting pitching. In his first start of the year, Crowder College commit Jake Collier tossed five innings, allowing just a couple of runs. His reliever, Zach Taylor (also in his first appearance), earned a save by throwing the final four innings.
O’Fallon’s offense generated two home runs. Third baseman John Connors finished 3-for-4 and belted a home run 404-feet to center field in the first inning. Second baseman Matthew Rauser of Maryville added a two-run home run in the third. The Hoots put up a game high six runs in the third inning, putting the team ahead for good.
Thrillville attempted to wake its bats up, but first baseman Brayton Coomer carried much of the effort. Coomer hit two different home runs to the left field porch. Outside of Coomer’s home runs in the fourth and eighth inning, the Thrillbillies scored an additional run in the fifth inning when Granta Sawa scored on a wild pitch.
O’Fallon and Thrillville now share a 2-3 record through five games this season. The two South Division opponents will play again Sunday night at 6:35 p.m. at CarShield Field.
