Crucial insurance runs leads to thrilling Hoots victory

O’Fallon, MO- The Hoots broke a three-game losing streak with an impressive 9-8 victory over the Thrillville Thrillbillies on Thursday night thanks to timely hitting and pitching.

Left-hander Alex Jung got the start for O’Fallon looking to write the ship on a three-game skid. The southpaw pitched three inning while allowing four runs before Bronco Whitt stepped in and went three scoreless innings.

In those innings the offense went to work scoring five runs between the 4th and 6th innings before Nick Bonczkowski put the finishing touch when he smoked a leadoff home run to dead center-field. This run would prove costly as Thrillville scored three runs in the ninth cutting the deficit to one.

That’s when Mason Lee came into the game in relief of Noah Jones and struck out Thrillville’s Nathan Jessup to shut the door and get the victory. This win pushes the Hoots second half record to 6-3 and overall record to 21-14.

The Hoots host the Danville Dans on Friday night, closing the two-game homestand. First pitch is slated for 6:35 PM.
