Quincy, IL – After a thrilling win over the Cape Catfish on Friday night, the Hoots took the show on the road on Saturday but were defeated by the Quincy Doggy Paddlers 9-6 at QU Stadium.
The Hoots jumped on Quincy early, taking a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning. After Quincy notched some runs in the middle innings, the team’s big seventh inning put away O’Fallon. Ignacio Gonzalez hit a single to bring home Brady Kindhart, making it 6-5. Afterwards, Jamie Rasmussen hit a two RBI double and Lane Olson singled home Rasmussen and Gonzalez. Down 9-6 after this rally, the Hoots were unable to score the rest of the game.
O’Fallon used a plethora of arms to get through the game after starter Drew Politte handled four innings. Relievers Drew Patrick, Evan Abercrombie, Carter Perry, Cameron Mosier, Noah Jones and Teru Khan all pitched. The Doggy Paddlers made it through nine innings with Nick Wilson, Raiden Ericson and Alex Logan. Wilson started the game and pitched five innings. Logan was given the win while Ericson received the save. For the Hoots offense, left fielder Tyler Macon and third baseman Jaiden Glency combined for all four RBI.
O’Fallon will take Sunday and Monday off. On Tuesday, the Hoots are back at home at CarShield Field for a doubleheader against the Thrillville Thrillbillies. First pitch for Game 1 is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. and Game 2 is tentatively scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
