Hoots bats kept quiet in run-rule loss vs Catfish.

Despite Bryson Lofton’s two RBI, Hoots fall 15-2

The Hoots lose for the third time in the second half falling to the Cape Catfish by a score of 15-3. After two scoreless innings, the Catfish struck first in the top of the third inning after a one-out hit by pitch to Alex Kowalski. After stealing second base, Wes Gingerich would hit a double to the left field gap to give the Catfish a 1–0 lead.

The Hoots would respond in the bottom half of the inning, after a Ryan Stevens singe, and Henry Zenor walk, Bryson Lofton would sneak a base hit through the right side of the infield to score Stevens and Zenor. However, those would be the only runs the Hoots would manage in the game.

The Catfish would respond in the fourth inning when with one out, JJ Williams would reach on an error, then a single and a throwing error to put two on and nobody out. Cordell Coburn would strike out but with two outs, Owen Mandler would hit a two-RBI single to left center field making the lead 3-2. The Catfish would add two more in the top of the fifth inning, and three sixth inning. In the bottom of the sixth, the Hoots would have their best chance to get out of the inning loading the bases with nobody out, but Justin Simard and Stevens would strike out, and Zenor would line out to end the threat. The Catfish would then put this game out of reach, scoring 2 runs in the seventh, and 5 in the eighth to secure the 15-2 win.

The Hoots fall to 23-14, and 7-3 in the second half, and the Catfish improve to 18-21, and 4-6 in the Second half.

Hoots return to action on Sunday, July 14th when they go on the road to take on the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes at 5:00 P.M.
