Hoots Defeated by Springfield in Extra’s, 6-5

O’Fallon loses their sixth straight game and falls three game behind Cape with time running out to make Prospect League Playoffs.

The O’Fallon Hoots fall to the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes by a final score of 6-5 in ten innings.

The scoring got started in the second inning when Tyler Lang would cross the plate on a wild pitch by Springfield starting pitcher Davin Meier. 

They added on another in the third when Jack Meyer hit a sacrifice fly to score Michael Gould.

Springfield would tie the game up in the fourth on an RBI single from Luke Baier. A second run would score when left fielder Kyle Byrne bobbled Baier’s single.

After the Lucky Horseshoes took the lead in the top of the fifth, O’Fallon evened the score on a Kurtis Byrne solo homer. They would take the lead in the sixth on a Henry Zenor RBI single.

Springfield would take the lead back with two runs in the seventh inning, one of them being unearned to make the score, 5-4.

After O’Fallon tied the game in the eighth inning on a Jack Meyer RBI single, the game would go to extra innings tied at five.

After Springfield’s Garrett Meyer hit an RBI sacrifice fly to give the Lucky Horseshoes the lead, O’Fallon would get blanked in the bottom of the tenth inning and fall.

Brant Smith earns the victory for Springfield and Christian Harvey is charged with the loss for the Hoots.

Springfield moves to 11-11 in the second half and 20-29 overall. O’Fallon falls to 10-12 in the second half and 27-23 overall. They are now three games behind Cape in the South Division standings.

The Hoots are back at home on Friday night against the Thrillville Thrillbillies with first pitch coming your way at 6:35pm.
