Hoots Win Big Over River Dragons on Saturday Night in Complete Team Effort

O’Fallon, MO – The O’Fallon Hoots have returned to an even win-loss record (11-11) after beating the Alton River Dragons at CarShield Field on Saturday night. In front of a good crowd on a warm night, the Hoots took down the Dragons 11-2.

The bats of the visiting River Dragons were held in check by Crowder commit Jake Collier. The Hoots starter pitched his way to another win, giving up no runs in five innings of pitching. Relievers Gavin Kinworthy and Zach Taylor finished the pitching effort behind Collier.

O’Fallon’s bats were a problem for Alton’s pitching throughout the game. The Hoots collected 17 hits and put up seven runs in the fourth inning. John Connors, Sam Paule, Nick Steurer, Jake McGhee and Matthew Rauser all had multiple hits for the Hoots.

In the seventh inning, Alton’s (2-20) Ryan Hartz and Logan Studer both delivered RBI singles to extend a game that would have otherwise ended in a mercy rule. Still, the Hoots would not allow another run and won 11-2 in nine innings.

The Hoots return to the diamond Sunday, but the squad will be on the road to face Thrillville Thrillbllies at 2:00 p.m.
