Late Runs Score to Give Catfish a Win Over the Hoots on Sunday Night

Cape Girardeau, MO – On the road at Capaha Field, the O’Fallon Hoots were unable to maintain their late 4-1 lead on Sunday. With an offensive spur in the late innings, the Cape Catfish scored four runs to beat the Hoots 5-4.

The Catfish scored one run in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth inning before the winning run in the ninth. In the bottom of the ninth inning, catcher Enrique Villanueva singled to left field to score Hayden Nazarenus, winning the game for the Catfish.

Early on, O’Fallon (23-15) starter Mason Lee proved to be effective, handling 4 and 2/3 innings of work. Lee allowed just one run before a flurry of relievers pitched behind him. Cape’s (32-7) Caleb Oligschlaeger earned the win for his scoreless eighth and ninth innings. Shortstop Jaiden Glency led the Hoots with three hits.

The Hoots will return to CarShield Field for a Wednesday night game against the Jackson Rockabillys. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
