O’Fallon, MO- It was one big inning that did in the O’Fallon Hoots on Wednesday night. Though the Jackson Rockabillys jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, the Hoots responded quickly and tied the game on an RBI double by Nick Bonczkowski, which was his 50th RBI on the year.
The offense continued in the third, with a wild pitch scoring Tyler Macon before Griffin Brown drove in two on an RBI single which made the score 4-1. The Rockabillys did draw closer on a two-run home run in the fifth, but the Hoots again responded. Nick Bonczkowski continued his stellar season by hitting his own two-run home run to make the score 6-3.
The wheels fell off in the seventh, as the Rockabillys sent eleven men to the plate, with the only out in the first nine batters coming on an outfield assist by Nick Bonczkowski. Jackson scored seven total runs in the inning, bringing the score to its eventual final of 11-6.
The win secures the series victory for the Jackson Rockabillys between the two teams. The Hoots head to Quincy to face the Doggy Paddlers on Thursday night, before facing the Terre Haute Rex at home on Friday.
