Hoots Crush Jackson By 15-5 Final

O’Fallon defeats the Rockabillys adding to their division lead.

The O’Fallon Hoots defeat the Jackson Rockabillys by a final score of 15-5 in seven innings.

Jackson got the scoring started in the top of the second inning when Dalton Rudd scored on a balk to give the Rockabillys the lead.

O’Fallon responded in a loud way with an eight run bottom of the second which was highlighted by a Jack Meyer grand slam.

After Jackson scored in the top of the fifth, O’Fallon responded once again with a Michael Gould RBI single which gave the Hoots a 9-2 lead. They would add another the next inning on a Meyer RBI single.

In the top of the seventh, Jackson scored three runs off Hoots reliever Will Moore. Once again, the O’Fallon would respond in the bottom half of the inning. Kyle Byrne would lead off with a solo home run. Rockabillys relief pitcher Luke Hardy would have trouble keeping runners off the base paths which ultimately led to O’Fallon scoring four more runs in the inning to put the ten run rule into effect concluding the game after seven innings of play.

Starting pitcher Brayden Rubel earns the victory throwing five innings while striking out eleven batters. Matthew Riley is charged with the loss.

The Hoots move to 26-16 on the season and 9-5 in the second half of play. The win also puts O’Fallon two games ahead of Jackson in the South Division. The Rockabillys fall to 8-8 in the second half of play and 25-18 on the season.

The Hoots are back in action on Thursday night as they’ll play a seven inning doubleheader against the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes with first pitch coming your way at 5:35pm.
