O’Fallon, MO – It was a very wet Thursday night in O’Fallon, Missouri for both the Alton River Dragons and O’Fallon Hoots. Despite mother nature pouring down rain on CarShield Field, the Hoots earned a 7-4 win in eight innings.
Alton earned the first run of the game when Ryan Hartz singled to left field in the top of the first. After, the game would go back and forth. Prospect League RBI leader Nick Bonczkowski hit a home run to left field to tie the game in the bottom of the second.
The runs traded early in the game set the tone for the later innings. After Alton’s Brandon Gour hit an RBI single in the top of the eighth (which tied the game 4-4), the Hoots brought around three runs in the bottom of the inning. In the top of the ninth inning, the River Dragons put two men on base before the game was called due to heavy rain.
O’Fallon used several arms, but starter Gavin Kinworthy pitched the first four innings before Ethan Milius and Evan Abercrombie threw the later four innings. The River Dragons’ Diego Johnson and Park Roeder both pitched over two innings. Alton’s (2-23) Darren Rosenberg earned six strikeouts in three innings.
The Hoots (14-11) are scheduled to play the Thrillville Thrillbillies at CarShield Field on Friday. First pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m. Fans can watch the game on the Prospect League Network or buy tickets on ofallonhoots.com or at the gate.
