How It Happened:
The Hoots offense got off to an early start when John Connors hit a two-run double to right center to make the score 2-0. The River Dragons looked like they would respond after a leadoff single, but Alex Jung shut them down in order to strand one in the first.
That was but a microcosm of Alex Jung’s night, who scattered four hits across five shutout innings, walking none and striking out five.
The Hoots offense got going again in the fifth. They put men on second and third with one out when the third basemen Charlie Berry committed an error on a Tyler Macon hit, allowing two runs to score. Macon would score a few batters later on a Nick Bonczowski RBI groundout.
It continued in the sixth. Jake McGhee hit his second little league home run in as many games when Alton committed two errors on the play to bring the score to 8-0.
O’Fallon put the game away in the seventh with seven total runs scored. After another run scored on an error, Carson Shear singled to drive in a run, followed by a Jaiden Glency two-RBI double. Jake McGhee put the cap on the inning by hitting a proper home run to deep right field, a three-run shot to put the Hoots up 15-0. Jack Moore pitched the final two innings, recording five strikeouts.
The Hoots continue their road trip with a doubleheader on Wednesday, starting a four game set in Jackson against the Rockabillys.
