Hoots Win 11th Straight Game After Dropping 17 Runs on the Dans on Sunday

O’Fallon, MO – The Hoots bats didn’t miss a beat after 14 runs in seven innings on Saturday. With the Danville Dans in town, O’Fallon put up a 17-9 win and totaled 16 hits in the contest.

Most of O’Fallon’s damage occurred in the fourth inning, when the offense put up eight runs. The team also put up a big four spot in the eighth inning, and multiple home runs were hit. Lindenwood commit Nick Bonzckowski hit a home run in the fourth inning and outfielder Brady Vessells hit his own in the eighth inning.

To close out the game in the ninth inning, left-handed reliver Mason Lee dazzled with three straight strikeouts. Lee ended his outing with two innings pitched and was the only Hoots pitcher not to give up a run. Danville’s starter Drake Hoffa allowed four runs in three innings. Relivers Austin Penry, James Duckworth and Mark Rutherford III pitched the remaining innings, but each allowed multiple runs.

With a Sunday win over the Dans (16-11), O’Fallon is 3-0 in the second half and 18-11 overall. As of Monday, the Hoots’ win streak is the best in the Prospect League.

The Hoots will take Monday off with the rest of the league. On Tuesday, the Hoots will take on the River Dragons at 6:35 p.m. in Alton.
