O’Fallon Drops High Scoring Game to Clinton on Sunday

O’Fallon, MO – The Clinton LumberKings beat the O’Fallon Hoots on Sunday night, putting up 17 runs in a 17-5 mercy rule win at CarShield Field.

Clinton’s bats were awake early and often in the game. The Kings put up two runs in the first and one in the second. To follow, Clinton added four in the third inning and fourth inning respectively, and a game high five runs in the fifth inning. The LumberKings offense forced six Hoots to come into the game to pitch. Clinton’s top moment came when shortstop Jackson Mishler hit a grand slam to left field in the top of fifth inning.

O’Fallon did see positives from several hitters, but STLCC transfer Nick Bonczkowski added two more hits and an RBI to his impressive season totals. Third baseman John Connors walked two times and Jacksonville State commit Jake McGhee hit a triple.

The Hoots (7-11) will return to CarShield Field Tuesday. The Alton River Dragons are the road team with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
