O’Fallon’s ninth inning rally falls short in 6-3 loss against Clinton.
The Clinton LumberKings defeat the O’Fallon Hoots by a final score of 6-3.
Tonight’s game began with two and a half scoreless innings from pitchers Sam Cardwell and Ean DiPasquale.
O’Fallon got the scoring started in the bottom of the third on an RBI single from Henry Zenor.
Clinton would respond in the top of the third with three runs highlighted a Cougar Cooke RBI double and a Connor Guisti two run single.
The LumberKings would add three more runs in the next two innings thanks to RJ Sherwood’s RBI double and James Hackett’s two run homer.
The Hoots would remain silent at the plate until the bottom of the ninth inning. They would score two runs after Brady Coon’s RBI double and Henry Zenor’s run scoring single.
Baden Hackworth would represent the tying run at the plate with two outs in the ninth. Closer Sam Lavin would get him to ground out to first to end the game.
The Hoots fall to 27-18 overall and 10-7 in the second half. Clinton jumps to 26-17 overall and 11-6 in the second half.
DiPasquale is credited with the victory and Cardwell is charged with the loss.
The Hoots are back in action on Saturday night on the road against the Cape Catfish and back at home next Thursday against the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes.
