Hoots Bats Come Alive to Sweep Friday Doubleheader Against Rockabillys

O’Fallon, MO – Hoots shortstop Samuel Paule hit a walk-off single in the seventh inning of Friday’s doubleheader against the Jackson Rockabillys. The hit completed a 2-0 day for the Hoots, with a 15-5 win in Game 1 and a 1-0 win in Game 2.

The Hoots poured in four home runs in the first game. A Hitter of the Week award winner, first baseman Nick Bonczkowski hit two of the home runs and drove in five runs. John Connors and Nicke Steurer (who scored the winning run in Game 2) hit the other two home runs. The Hoots also stole four bases in what ended up being a five-inning mercy rule win in Game 1.

In the second game of the night, the pitchers stole the show. O’Fallon starter Jake Collier (Crowder) earned a win with six scoreless innings. Reliver Noah Jones notched his second save of the season by allowing no runs in the top of the seventh. Jackson starter Karosn Lindsey did not allow a run in five innings and only let the Hoots get one hit. O’Fallon hit the winning run home against the Rockabillys’ Jaxon Valdez.

The Hoots (7-9) will play the Clinton LumberKings at 6:35 p.m. at CarShield Field on Saturday and Sunday.
