Hoots Fall to Rockabillys in Pitcher’s Duel

The O’Fallon Hoots fell 2-0 to the Jackson Rockabillys in Thursday’s game, which was supposed to only be game one of a doubleheader. The second game was called on account of rain.

Both pitchers were excellent in what turned out to be a stellar pitcher’s duel between the Rockabilly’s Tate Hickman and the Hoots’ Drew Politte.

Drew Politte was especially impressive, as he pitched six and one third innings, allowing only one earned run on four hits while striking out nine. His only earned run came in the first on an RBI single by Kyle Neri.

John Connors did reach base three times in the loss, with one single and two walks on the day. The Hoots threatened in the seventh but unfortunately could not complete the comeback.

The Hoots and Rockabillys will now play their doubleheader tomorrow at Carshield Field.
